Our friendly, caring team at Droitwich Spa Dental Aesthetics & Implant Centre loves helping our youngest patients find their happiest smiles.
At Droitwich Spa Dental Aesthetics & Implant Centre, our team is dedicated to creating the healthiest foundation possible for children’s oral health and dental care. We know that the key to life-long oral well-being is starting from the ground up with a great foundation that is based on regular visits to the dentist and dental hygienist and a proper at-home oral care regime. And this goes double when it comes to our youngest patients when prevention and maintenance are absolutely paramount.
At what age should children start visiting the dentist?
It’s recommended that parents bring their children to the dentist once their first tooth or teeth have started to erupt. Starting children off with visits to the dentist at such a young age will not only help us keep an eye on their oral health and dental development but help acclimatise them to dental practice. This should help prevent any phobias from developing, as well as help instil good habits and a positive attitude towards their dental care!
What dental care for children is provided at Droitwich Spa Dental?
We provide regular dental examinations for children. These should be attended on a regular basis – depending on the risk, we will recommend either once or twice a year, but in some cases, it can be as frequent as every three months. At these check-ups, we’ll be able to check on the development of the teeth and keep an eye on any developing issues such as tooth decay or teeth growing in at the wrong angles. We’ll then be able to advise on the correct treatment for such issues. These could include fluoride or fissure treatments, fillings, or orthodontics.
How should I care for my children’s teeth at home?
Most important is developing an easy-to-follow oral care routine. If you’re uncertain of how to go about this, our team will be able to offer specific, tailored advice, but you should always ensure your children are brushing their teeth twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste.
