Bone grafts can help ensure that the patients who would benefit most from dental implants, are able to safely and successfully receive them.
At Droitwich Spa Dental Aesthetics & Implant Centre, our expertise in dental implants means we can help even those patients with less healthy bone mass available receive the treatments they need to improve their oral health and overall wellbeing.
As a practice we are fully committed to ensuring our patients have access to the treatments and techniques that will radically improve their quality of life and oral health, and for patients with missing teeth or severely damaged teeth, this often means dental implants. Unfortunately, many patients who have been living with either missing or damaged teeth, may also suffer from a loss of bone density, which is paramount in the implant application process. This is where treatment such as bone grafts and sinus lifts come in.
What is bone grafting?
Bone grafts increase the width and height of the bone at the area where an implant is going to be applied. Bone grafting can use synthetic, human or animal bone tissue from donors, or from the patient themselves.
This tissue will contain collagen and proteins that, once grafted, promote the production of natural bone tissue, thereby not only restoring the lost bone tissue, but helping to produce it in the long-term for the health of the implant, natural surrounding teeth, and overall oral wellbeing.
Will it be painful?
This treatment will always be carried out under anaesthetic, so you don’t have to worry about experiencing any pain or discomfort while being treated.
When is bone grafting used?
We use bone grafting on patients in need of a dental implant, but who unfortunately do not have enough healthy bone tissue available to successfully receive an implant or implants. In some other cases, we might use a sinus lift to achieve a similar result.
